Spanish painter and sculptor Pablo Picasso (1881-1973), widely recognized as one of the greatest and most influential artists of the 20th century, was a co-founder (with Georges Braque) of Cubism, but Picasso’s art went through many phases, as this copy of his realistic portrait of composer Igor Stravinsky demonstrates. Picasso designed the costumes to complement Stravinsky’s music for the ballet Pulcinella (1920). While working on this project, Picasso made several paintings of Stravinsky. The graphite and charcoal original of the well-known piece offered here hangs in the Picasso Museum in Paris. Signature light and faint but legible. Lightly creased. Fine condition. Not framed in the Gallery of History style. – Please contact us if you have any questions or require additional information. HFSID 295515
